The pastels are an exploration of color and an attempt to create a three dimensional place of infinite expanse on a small piece of wood. All work is a combination of oil, dry pastels and wax color sticks on wood.
"Bill's work is dynamic in the way that he uses not only color and subject, but the grain and texture of the canvas which is wood, to evoke a sense of place, belonging, even nostalgia, in the viewer . . . the texture and grain of our own landscape begins to crack and open up, revealing grooves and weathered recesses, we find kinship and comfort in his painted landscapes with their similar lines, and our thirsts quenched by his color and drawn lines."
